VLF AC testing is becoming the industry standard for commissioning on of new cable installation and maintenance testing of field cables (IEEE 400). Unlike, DC Hipot testing of field aged XLP and EPR cables, VLF Hipot testing provides useful information and neither degrades the condition of insulators by water treeing nor cause damage to field aged XLP or EPR cables.
